Quality Technician, Skills for Success

The Quality Technician Skills for Success program was developed to address the growing need for skilled workers in manufacturing. This ten-day workshop will give you the skills you need to be successful, led by our instructors with years of industry experience. Through these workshops, participants will learn essential quality concepts, tools, and tasks. This training provides a Purdue University Certificate of Learning and a MSSC Certification in Quality Practices and Measurement.

Production Technician, Skills for Success

Purdue MEP has developed three Skills for Success programs to address the manufacturing skills gap in the areas of manufacturing, quality, and leadership. Our successful programs are helping thousands of people in the state of Indiana with skills they need to be successful in the manufacturing sector and beyond. This program is designed for individuals new to manufacturing and results in an MSSC Certified Production Technician certification as well as a Purdue University Certificate of Learning.

Medical Coding

The medical coding certificate is a 28-credit-hour program focusing on pathophysiology, pharmacology, coding, medical reimbursement, and basic concepts of health information and is designed to better prepare you to sit for industry standard certifications. The curriculum includes a unique professional practicum component that integrates classroom instruction with applied, technical experience in an actual health care facility. Medical coders audit inpatient/outpatient health records (both paper and electronic) for appropriate ICD-10/ICD-11 and/or CPT code assignment. Coders also aid in revenue cycle auditing. Medical coders work in hospitals, physician offices, group practices, and insurance companies. This certificate can be completed in-person or entirely online.

NOTE: This program requires that recipients file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and be eligible for Title IV financial aid. The Workforce Ready Grant is not based on family income.

Applied Information Science/Data Studies

The Applied Information Science certificate is a 18-credit-hour program that is completed completely online. The certificate introduces data analysis and manipulation, data organization and access, data policy development, and how these practices relate to the creation and dissemination of data sets and related information. You’ll study database design and perform management tasks that are part of today’s data life cycle, including backup and security. Develop the skills to build database infrastructures and curate data for specific needs.

NOTE: This program requires that recipients file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and be eligible for Title IV financial aid. The Workforce Ready Grant is not based on family income. 

Multi-Device Development

The Multi-Device Development specialization is a completely online program where you will earn 18 credits in 16 weeks, provided the pre-requisites are completed. This boot camp-style program equips you with the skills for an entry-level job creating client-side websites, web and mobile applications and more. Most courses within the Informatics major focus on back-end web development, so by adding the Multi-Device Development within Media Arts and Science, you will gain knowledge of front-end development for mobile phones and the Web.

Advanced Precision Machinist

This specialization will focus on the concepts and vocabulary that prepares learners to work in a variety of positions in the manufacturing sector. Learners will gain a specialized education in manufacturing processes, project management, production management, critical thinking, problem solving, advanced manufacturing techniques, blue print reading, and process safety. This specialization, upon successful completion, will qualify for a Certificate of Applied Technical Related Studies completion from Bay Institute of Science and Engineering (BISE) that can also be applied toward the Department of Labor Journeypersons Certification.

Managing Clinical Trials

This course is meant for those who have completed our Clinical Trial Foundations course, or have relevant experience in the field. The Managing Clinical Trials course is a part-time 8-week course that gives you the practical knowledge, skills, and training needed be a part of the next medical breakthroughs as a Clinical Research Coordinator, Clinical Research Associate or more. In this accelerated course taught by industry practitioners working in the field, you will learn site management, patient recruitment, informed consent procedures, biostatistics & electronics data capure systems (EDCs), managing audits, as well as the communication, professional, and leadership skills necessary for succeeding in this career. We will also cover test preparation for the main certification exams issued by ACRP and SoCRA. Our interactive approach is ideal for rehearsing the common interactions among drug company sponsors, principal investigators, regulatory bodies, study coordinators, monitors and contract research organizations. Upon finishing our program, you should be ready to hit the ground running as a CRC or CRA.

Clinical Trial Foundations

The Clinical Trial Foundations course is a part-time 8-week course that gives you the foundational & practical knowledge & training needed to understand the world of Clinical Trials as a career path. In this accelerated course taught by industry practitioners working in the field, you will learn the fundamentals of how clinical trials are designed, ethical principles in studies, informed consent standards, developing the investigational product for new drugs & medical therapies, regulatory affairs & the FDA, Institutional Review Boards (IRBs), Good Clinical Practices, and more. Our interactive approach is ideal for rehearsing the common interactions among drug company sponsors, principal investigators, regulatory bodies, study coordinators, monitors and contract research organizations. Upon finishing our program, you will be ready to advance to learn the operations behind managing clinical trials as a Clinical Research Coordinator or Clinical Research Associate in our Managing Clinical Trials course, or depending on your background, help administer clinical trials yourself.

XR Interaction Design & Prototyping

A project-based 10-week live online course exploring the best practices to design and prototype intuitive, usable, and human-centered experiences for AR and VR. During the course, students will familiarize themselves with the considerations of designing in environments beyond the screen, and the tools and skills to physically create those concepts. This course is designed for anyone interested in understanding how to and why to apply best UX practices when designing and building experiences for AR and VR.

This course is also available with C# Scripting Fundamentals, an additional 4-week live online course that will provide students with the core programming concepts of C# scripting they can use when developing applications. By the end of the course, students will have built a small game. This course doesn’t assume any previous programming experience.
