This program provides students with basic welding skills to earn certification allowing certification recipients to enter the workforce. Students with previous knowledge may work toward additional certifications.
Personalized instruction allows for accommodation of all skills. This class is designed to be taken multiple times until the desired skill level is attained. Typically, a SENSE Level 1: Entry Welder Certification (MIG) can be obtained by attending 1, 12-week session. Related areas covered include tool and equipment safety, oxyfuel and plasma cutting, and proper grinding techniques. Basic safety equipment and tools (welding helmet, fire resistant welding jacket, MIG/stick gloves, TIG gloves, safety glasses, ratchet headgear with clear and green face shields, welding pliers) are required to participate in either course. Students must wear jeans, a long-sleeved shirt and leather shoes.
