Welding training programs provide students with basic welding skills to earn certification allowing certification recipients to enter the workforce. Welding emphasizes hands-on learning for adult students to become skilled in many different specializations including SMAW/stick (shield metal arc welding), GMAW/MIG (gas metal arc welding), and GTAW/TIG (gas tungsten arc welding).
These training programs are designed for all skill levels, from beginners to those who have some training and wish to achieve high skill levels for sheet metal and structural plate certifications. Using the American Welding Society standards, students are trained using knowledge-based assessments, workmanship sample procedures and more. At many providers, students with previous knowledge may work toward additional certifications.
