Our program prepares individuals to successfully achieve the competencies needed to obtain NIMS certification for CNC Mill Operation Machining Level 1. The instruction focuses on the following areas: applied mathematics; cutting tool assembly; geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing (GDT); inspection and machine maintenance; machine safety; machining applications and measurements; operations; print reading and shop safety. Students will be expected to apply technical knowledge and skills to operate computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines with precision measuring tools and related attachments and accessories. Students will also be taught to perform machining functions, such as cutting, drilling, shaping, and finishing parts. Course includes instruction and practice utilizing a HAAS simulator, CNC terminology, and current regulations and laws that apply to the Machining Industry.
