Community Health Worker with Opioid Basics and Navigator

September 3, 2020

The CCHW is a front-line public health worker who is a trusted member of and/or has an unusually close understanding of the community served. This trusting relationship enables the CCHW to serve as a liaison/link/intermediary between health/social services and the community to facilitate access to services and improve the quality and cultural competence or service delivery. Upon completion of the 15-hour online Adult Education Literacy lessons, 30-hour online workforce training, and passing the final examinations, each participant will be certified as a Community Health Worker eligible for employment in organizations serving families, the elderly, children and youth including outpatient medical / behavioral providers, hospitals, medical clinics, schools, churches and community centers. The students will also earn an Opioid Specialization plus a Navigator certification, which makes our students better rounded in the field and more employable. The class will be a combination of teacher led and self-paced learning done virtually. Once a student has enrolled in Adult Education, they will be able to begin the course and have access to Blue River Career Programs other resources such as career coaching, computer labs, community resources, and additional supports.
