Fire Science and Safety Technology

The Fire Science and Safety Technology certificate program is designed to expose the student to the basics of the fire service, EMS (Emergency Medical Service) and related fields. Students will receive an introductory education in the fire/EMS services. Students may be required to obtain their own personal protective equipment (including but not limited to: boots, bunker pants, suspenders, coat, hood, gloves and helmet) that is fully compliant with applicable National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards. Proof of a firefighter physical may be required for some classes. This program is designed for the recent high school graduate and/or someone who wants to explore opportunities in the fire/EMS industry.

NOTE: This program requires that recipients file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and be eligible for Title IV financial aid. The Workforce Ready Grant is not based on family income.
